Samsung has recently launched its latest Samsung 5.1 soundbar- Samsung B670XL or Samsung B67EXL. Since the day they arrived, the market has been full of critical reviews. Some say this is the best, while others disregard it and favour other soundbars. So what exactly is the truth? Should you buy this soundbar or go with some other option? Looks
Samsung 5.1 soundbar has fantastic looks. Its top is covered with a black matt finish, giving it a premium look. The four embossed buttons on the soundbar look classy. On one side are connectivity options- 2HDMI (1 HDMI ARC and 1 HDMI IN), one optical, 1 USB port, and Bluetooth support. However, you can’t get 4K HDR Passthrough after attaching a firestick.
Correct Placement and Connections
The wired surround channels must be connected with the box, which is of grey and glossy black finish. The wireless subwoofer must be kept in the corner for an enhanced sound experience. If the soundbar is placed on the table, then surround channels on the ear level and the subwoofer can be kept on either side of the soundbar. All of these get connected seamlessly.
Disappointingly, Samsung has provided old-fashioned wires with its latest Samsung 5.1 soundbar to connect surround channels. These old-type wires are delicate and can be easily damaged.
Remote Control
Samsung 5.1 soundbar’s remote control is just like any other Samsung remote. It has different buttons for controls. This soundbar’s remote isn’t fully functional but has many operational controls.
Audio Results
The clarity and delivery of vocals in the Samsung soundbar are good. Bass has not been compromised at any point. See this frequency analyzer chart.
Samsung has done brilliant distribution of power. Samsung 5.1 soundbar’s audio signature is close to a flat audio signature which provides the minutest beats and the minor nuances. You will notice the difference in sound produced at various places in the Samsung 5.1 soundbar. Everything is audible as frequency distribution is done so that every frequency is made at the same level.
Bass
The audio quality is so outstanding is no sand there is no shortage of bass. The bass starts at 45Hz (not 20Hz, as mentioned by Samsung). Its lower bass is beautiful. Its upper bass is produced accurately. You feel the thump sound, which is what good audio quality is all about.
But the words won’t justify what its bass is in reality. We recommend you watch a fight scene after attaching a Samsung 5.1 soundbar to a TV. Then you will get to hear the minutest sounds.
Vocals
Its delivery of vocals is impressive. The audio is sharp as well as piercing. Every note in this soundbar is delivered beautifully. It doesn’t support Dolby atmos, but you get Dolby audio and dts Virtual X effect. When you select dts Virtual X, the audio quality will rock. It will give you a cinematic experience. You will love it.
Is it suitable for songs?
For people whose sole purpose of buying a soundbar is to listen to songs, we always recommend a 2.1 soundbar. But this Samsung 5.1 soundbar, the best in India in 2023, also plays songs beautifully. Its most significant pro is that you get terrific clarity with the minutest nuances.
However, it can’t produce loud bass. It delivers clear bass starting from low frequency. This soundbar isn’t made for piercing and punchy bass. Its dts Virtual X mode is suitable specifically for movies. For songs, play it in normal mode. That will give you good bass, but that is not the thumping bass. This soundbar is excellent as it produces fantastic clarity. You get all features in this soundbar.
Cons
- The speaker wires of the Samsung 5.1 soundbar are delicate. These are old wires, and we have no idea why Samsung has used them in its latest Samsung 5.1 soundbar. But their sound transfer is reasonable. Samsung should, however, improve on it.
- You don’t get 4K passthrough via HDMI IN port in this Samsung 5.1 soundbar. For clarity, Samsung has used cross-stalk cancellation, but with a 4K passthrough, it would have been unbeatable. Still, it is a good option.

Samsung 5.1 soundbar, the best 5.1 soundbar in India, costs approx Rs 30,000. Samsung B670 or Samsung B67E are the same soundbars. Their output is mentioned as 520W and 560W everywhere, but there is no difference. We tested them and listened to them. Their drivers are the same. This is merely Samsung’s strategy to maximize its sales.
