Looks: LG UQ8020 vs LG UQ7500
In LG UQ8020 vs LG UQ7500 comparison, we found out that their bezels are a bit different. LG UQ7500 has slightly thicker bezels or you can say medium bezel design. LG UQ8020 on the other hand has a thin bezel design. They both have plastic bodies, plastic frames, and plastic stands. All connectivity options are given on one side of the back.
The 43-inch sizes have 3 HDMI ports (1 eRAC) and 2 USB ports but the 55-inch size had only 1 USB port. Both the TVs support Bluetooth 5.0 and dual-band Wifi. When you see them side by side, you will not notice much difference in their bezels. Do you buy a TV to watch its bezels or the content? Exactly, you watch the content and that is why slightly thicker bezels are ok if the picture quality is amazing.
Panel: LG UQ8020 vs LG UQ7500
They both have absolutely the same panel which is 8 bit of FRC IPS DLED panel. It is a fantastic panel with amazing color reproduction.
Brightness Test: LG UQ8020 vs LG UQ7500
In the LG UQ8020 vs LG UQ7500 comparison, we discovered that their peak HDR brightness is 360 nits which is amazing. Their 55-inch model has 400 nits peak HDR brightness. And 43-inch sizes will have lesser brightness as their screen space is less. 360 nits from this panel are just amazing.
Video features: LG UQ8020 vs LG UQ7500
They support HDR10 Pro and HLG but they lack Dolby Vision. However, LG gives support of Active HDR. So what is Active HDR? Active HDR will collect the metadata i.e the amount of darkness and sharpness of details. TVs with 1000 nits peak HDR brightness don’t require Active HDR. But it is significant in TVs with 300-400 nits peak HDR brightness to show sharp details. The high dynamic range of these TVs is amazing.
Even the minutest details can be seen on both the TVs. It has been made possible with LG’s Alpha 5 or Generation 5 processor. This picture processor was used by LG in its OLED TV 2 years back. LG is trying to provide the same performance from these budget TVs as it gave from those OLED TVs 2 years back.
Color Profile: LG UQ8020 vs LG UQ7500
The color profile is very close to the natural color profile. They look amazing. The minutest details of the content are clearly visible. The detailing done here is outstanding in this budget segment. No other budget TV of this price segment offers such amazing clarity and detail.
Blacks:

The contrast ratio of these IPS panels is 1100:1. The blacks are satisfactory but they are not jet black as of a VA panel. Despite being an IPS panel it is still producing good blacks due to the Active HDR presence. Active HDR manages brightness and contrast as well. The metadata manages the blacks as per contrast and that is why good blacks are produced. These TVs perform excellently as compared to the other TVs in the same price range.
ALLM:
You get Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) through HDMI 2.1 eARC port. It is a good thing for gamers. Gamers can use their gaming consoles with this TV. LG claims 8 ms input lag.
Performance:
We tested their HDR10 performance on Amazon Prime and we were quite satisfied. These TVs showed amazing detailing. The colors were quite natural. The color profile was quite similar to that of other LG TVs. They are not 100% natural. Blue and green are slightly saturated but this is what LGs color profile is.
LG always over-saturates some colors. The colors look natural as well as lively. Greens and blue look vibrant. Both the TVs show excellent performance in both bright and dark content.
What about Dolby Vision? We tested Dolby Vision content on Netflix and to our surprise, it was actually good. Since they don’t support Dolby Vision, they play the Dolby Vision content in HDR format. And with Active HDR support, the Dolby Vision content looks enhanced with better details.

OS: LG UQ8020 vs LG UQ7500
They both come with Web OS. Web OS is LG’s own software. It doesn’t have many apps. However, all OTT apps are pre-downloaded on these TVs. Content appears in tiles just like on Android TVs. Suggested content also appears in form of tiles. Web OS is lighter than Android OS. But Web OS doesn’t have many apps. Alternatively, you can plug in Amazon Firestick 4K which shows a similar OS to that of Android with tons of apps and suggested content.
Upscaling:
Upscaling of the SD content was good. All 4K TVs perform on average in terms of SD content. HD content can be enjoyed more as it is better upscaled. It comes with filmmaker mode too. It is believed that the filmmaker mode, the most famous mode, will show the movies in the exact way a filmmaker would want you to see them. As soon as you turn it on, the brightness decreases and colors become warm instead of sharp. You will see Dolby Vision but it is not an HDR format. It is a picture mode but it works well.
Viewing Angles:
It is an IPS panel and obviously, its viewing angles are fantastic. Brightness and color loss is 10% even from the extreme sides. There is no brightness or color loss up to 60°.
Audio Quality:
Both TVs have 20W speakers that support Dolby Digital. The audio quality is average. However, a good soundbar is essential for the cinematic experience to enhance the audio quality of these TVs. But for smaller rooms and HD and SD channels, no soundbar is required.

Pros & Cons:

PROS

- In this LG 43 inch smart TV review, we found that it is an amazing option for casual gamers.
- The ALLM and HGIG allow gamers to connect their gaming console flawlessly. If your gaming console supports HDR, then these TVs will show it to you.
- Their panel gives amazing viewing angles.
- The color profile is toward natural color profile.
- The backs are not deepest but they are good, especially with fox lights.
- Their HDR performance is good. Even the minutest details are visible.

CONS

- These TVs can’t give you the deepest blacks as these are IPS panels and not VA panels. But you can beat this con with fox light which cost around Rs 200-300.
- They don’t support Dolby Vision and you cannot achieve it externally as Dolby Vision is a component of a panel.
- However, the Dolby Vision content is played fine on both of these TVs. Due to Active HDR, Dolby Vision content can be enjoyed in them.
- You will also notice motion blur as they don’t have MEMC. All budget TVs have some level of motion blur.
Conclusion:
“LG UQ7550 and LG UQ7500 are the same TVs with the same panels. LG UQ7550 is slightly expensive as it is only available offline. Offline-only models are always costlier than online-only models. Similarly, LG UQ8020, the best TV under 40000, is cheaper as it is the most competitive one in its segment.”
