Looks- Hisense U7H Qled TV

Hisense U7H has an anodized metal body and metal base stands. This TV is heavy, but its base stands are solid. The bezels are very thin and Hisense has named it a floating glass design. The looks are fantastic.

Connectivity options- Hisense U7H Review

All connectivity options are given on a single side. It has 4 HDMI ports and 2 USB ports apart from other essential ports. 2 HDMI ports out of 4 are 2.1 ports and out of them only 1 supports eARC. There is 1 HDMI 2.0 and 1 HDMI 3.0 port. It supports Bluetooth 5.1 and dual-band wifi. Hence, it is the best in terms of connectivity options.

OS- Hisense U7H Qled TV

In terms of OS, it is a bit disappointing as it comes with Vidaa OS. There are not many apps even on the Appstore. You get basic OS like Youtube, Amazon Prime, etc. But other apps like Disney Hotstar are missing. Due to this, Amazon has bundled Amazon 4K Firestick with this TV and as a result, its OS changes. You will get the option to download many apps. This OS supports Google Assistant and Alexa.

Hisense claims Apple Airplay support but we couldn’t find it. However, Android phones can be cast in it.
This TV comes with 3 GB RAM and hence there are no lags.

Remote control- Best TV under 50000

You get Netflix, Amazon Prime, Youtube, and Youtube music hotkeys.

Panel- Hisense 55 Inch TV Review

Hisense has popularized it as a 10-bit panel but it is an 8-bit FRC IPS QLED full array panel.

Peak HDR Brightness:

Its peak HDR brightness was 530 nits.

“Hisense U7H is an international model but the panel used in this TV is different. The Peak HDR brightness of the International model is 1000 nits. According to Hisense, its sustained brightness is 400 nits i.e the brightness in OTT and platforms.”

There is a difference between peak HDR and sustained brightness. Hisense claims 600 nits brightness but according to our testing, it was 530 nits. Peak HDR brightness is essential but it is not everything. Dynamic range, HDR capability, and color optimization are other factors that determine picture quality.

Video formats:

It supports HDR10, Adaptive HDR 10+, Dolby Vision IQ, and HLG. Adaptive HDR 10+ and Dolby Vision IQ are quite similar. These formats will adjust the colors and brightness per your room’s lighting. This has been made possible with an AI brightness chip that automatically adjusts brightness as per lighting in your room.

Performance of Video Formats:

We tested its HDR10+ performance on Amazon Prime and it was fantastic. The variation in colors was clearly visible. Details are visible even in the shadows. The content is highly detailed. The clarity is fantastic.

Its Dolby vision performance was amazing. Its Dolby vision performance outperforms the performances of other TVs. Hisense U7H performs extra-ordinarily in its price range.

Blacks:

We tested its blacks in the standard picture mode which showed dull blacks. But as soon as we turned on dynamic picture mode, its blacks got enhanced. An IPS panel can’t give as good blacks as an IPS panel.

Upscaling:

The upscaling of the SD channel was poor. The upscaling of HD channels was also bad. Its upscaling capabilities from the set-top box are not good.
However, its upscaling via USB was amazing. All types of content- HD content or 720p, FHD content or 1080p or 4K content were brilliantly upscaled.

Dimming Zones:

The dimming zones of this full array panel are 32- 4 rows and 8 columns. These are average and give satisfactory performance.

It is a proper gaming TV under the budget TVs. It is a 120 Hz panel with VRR 40 Hz to 120 Hz, ALLM, and AMD Frysync support. You can do gaming in Dolby vision format.

According to Hisense, it has a high-view engine that gives 240 Hz MEMC. This translates to zero motion blur and it is correct. There was no motion blur even if you keep motion smoothness off. Motion smoothness is most required in sports content.

Viewing Angles:

Since it is an IPS panel, its viewing angles were fantastic. There was no color or brightness loss up to 70° angle.

Grey Uniformity:

We found some vignetting in grey uniformity. Vignetting is the blackish color on the sides of the screen. This is common in all TVs except for Sony’s OLED panel TV.

Audio- Hisense U7H Qled TV

It comes with 20W down-firing speakers that support Dolby Atmos and DTS X. You will see Dolby Atmos badging on the Dolby atmos content on Netflix. However, a good soundbar is a must for a good cinematic experience.

Pros & Cons-

PROS

  • Its color optimization is fantastic. They are a little over-saturated but they look punchy.
  • Its HDR capabilities are good. The dynamic range of this TV is brilliant. The Adaptive HDR10+ and Dolby Vision IQ support are the game changers. In order to integrate these panels, a small chip is required that controls AI brightness. This chip works all the time and that is the best thing.
  • Its blacks were satisfactory and there were no issues with it.
  • Its colors are vivid. The content is highly detailed. This is a perfect gaming TV in this price range. Hisense U7H is the only TV in this range that offers features including a 120 Hz full array local dimming panel, VRR, 2 4K @ 120Hz HDMI ports, AMD frysync, and Dolby Vision support during gaming.

CONS

  • It comes with Vidaa OS which is not the best. However, it comes with a free bundled 4K firestick which will change its OS.
  • Its speakers are average and a good soundbar is essential for a cinematic experience.
  • Upscaling via set-top box is poor, particularly in SD channels. HD channels are relatively better but not the best.
  • There is no Apple Airplay support. You can only cast Android phones.
