| 1. Climates: Under 45° & in a dry climate, these desert coolers will cool your rooms quickly provided you have proper ventilation. Improper ventilation leads to lesser cooling. 2. Is the Weird Plastic Smell normal?: The weird plastic smell is normal & will vanish on certain days. 3. Types of Cooling Pads: There are 2 types of cooling pads. They are- Wood Wool Cooling pads are made of wood shavings & synthetic fiber & look like grass. They are cheap but have high maintenance. They are less efficient. Second, are Honeycomb pads which are found in most coolers. They are made of cellulose. They are more expensive but have low maintenance and more durability. All modern desert coolers have honeycomb pads on 3 sides. 4. The Fan of a Cooler: A desert cooler comes with a fan & 60-70ft air throw is irrelevant to them. In realistic terms, air throw is 15-20ft which is practical as well as good. 5. Humid Climate: People often ask which room cooler or desert cooler is best for humid climates. We think no air cooler is best for humid climates. They give fine cooling with proper ventilation but they certainly cannot end humidity as it is a part of the climate. 6. Noise Levels: The average noise levels of the desert cooler are 70-75 dB. The average noise level of the washing machine is 60-65dB. Coolers do make noise. No cooler operates silently. 7. On the top of our list of best air coolers in India 2022 is Symphony Sumo 75XL. It consumes a maximum of 185W power. It comes with good plastic material, Honeycomb pads & iPure tech. In iPure technology, Symphony has given 3 filters to purify the air. The SMPS technology is good as it will protect the motor during voltage fluctuations.
Sumo 75XL comes with an ice chamber, water level indicator, and automatic louvers movement too. It has a power cord winder along with inverter compatibility. It weighs 13.5Kg. Air throw has not been declared by Symphony but we can surely tell you that its air throw is amazing. Symphony gives a 1-year comprehensive warranty. It costs around Rs 12,000 which is subject to change.

- Its built quality is amazing despite its low 13.5 Kg weight. Built quality is solid and reliable.
- Air can be felt from corner to corner. It will cool a 250 sqft room proper within 20 min.
- Its SMPS technology is good as it will handle voltage fluctuations and will also prevent the fan and motor from any sort of damage.
- Its louvers do not get shut completely. Otherwise, it is good. Do check it as it is a fantastic cooler that cools really fast. It has some really good features that are extremely useful during the Summers.
Number 2- Best Desert Cooler 2022
Crompton Ozone 88L & Crompton Optimus 100L – Best Air Cooler 2022
On number 2 in our list of best air coolers in India in 2022 are 2 coolers of the same brand. They both have almost the same features but extremely different designs. We are talking about Crompton Ozone & Crompton Optimus. Their capacities vary. We tested Ozone’s 88L & Optimus’ 100L desert cooler. It has airflow of 4500m³/hr & max of 190W power which is fantastic. They are made of thermoplastic i.e ABS material.
Both have honeycomb pads, 4-way air deflection, an ice chamber, and a water level indicator. Except for different designs, Ozone has Auto vertical swing louvers i.e the front louvers swing up & down. Crompton Ozone is good for people who want air both up & down ways but not sideways. They have castor wheels & motor overload protection.
Crompton coolers prevent their motors from excessive power due to voltage fluctuations which is comprehendible. Both have autofill features and they are inverter compatible too. They weigh 15Kg. Their air throw is 55ft. Crompton gives a 1-year comprehensive warranty on both of them. Ozone costs Rs 10,500 & Optimus costs Rs 12800.

- They both are good but both are made for different people. For small rooms, with less space & narrow doors, Ozone is perfect. Optimus will cool a 230sqft room with proper ventilation within 15-20 min.
- All you have to do is keep the tank full. Rest, there are no issues.
- Their air throw & airflow are amazing.
- For bigger rooms with more space and bigger doors, go for Optimus. It has an 18-inch fan & amazing air throw and airflow. Air will be felt from corner to corner. As compared to Ozone, it cools 2-3 min faster. 100L is enough for the entire night & a few hours for the next day.
- Ozone doesn’t have fully collapsible louvers but Optimus’ louvers can be completely closed. That is the only con we saw. Otherwise, they are good for Rs 10,500 & 12,800 respectively.
Number 3- Best Air Cooler 2022
Maharaja Whiteline Maxberg 85L – Best Air Cooler 2022
Maharaja Whiteline Maxberg 85L is in the third position and it comes with an airflow of 5300m³/hr. It consumes max 200W power and comes with good plastic material, Honeycomb pads, and 4-way air deflection i.e the air rotates in all 4 directions. It has rust & shockproof body.
The best thing is the dry run protected submersible pump. The pump will not be damaged if the cooler runs out of water, especially at night. This inverter-compatible cooler comes with a water level indicator. It weighs 15.5Kg. Its air throw is 45ft. Maharaja Whiteline gives a 1-year comprehensive warranty. It costs around Rs 12,500-13000.

- The biggest pro is its amazing airflow. Due to its amazing air throw, air can be felt from corner to corner.
- It will cool a 25 sq ft room within 15-20 min on a full tank. However, it is big for a 150-250sqft room as it cools them fast.
- 5 castor wheels enhance stability.
- Its built quality is good with good knobs.
- It lacks the auto-fill feature. Rest it is all good. You can consider it for good cooling as well as for fast cooling.
Number 4- Best Air Cooler 2022
The number 4 position in our list of best air coolers in India 2022 is a tie.
1. Orient Electric 65L- Best Desert Cooler 2022
Orient Electric 65L air cooler comes with airflow of 3650m³/hr. It consumes max 190W power. It comes with good plastic material and DenseNest Honeycomb pads which is just another name for Honeycomb pads without any significant change. It has Aerofan technology which means max air in low noise (the basic work of any air cooler). It comes with a PCB panel i.e touch buttons and an ice chamber.
It has Auto-Fill technology and fully collapsible louvers. Louvers can be completely shut when not in use and this prevents mosquitos from entering the air cooler. There are 5 castor wheels and a cord winder on the back. This inverter-compatible cooler comes with a remote control option (for extra Rs 3000).
It weighs 17Kg. Its air throw is 60ft. Orient gives a 1-year comprehensive warranty. It costs Rs 11000. There are 2 models available at different prices. It has all my Recommended coolers.

- It is a good air cooler with 2 models- 1) without remote and 2) with remote (Rs 3000 extra).
- Its built quality is good and so is Havells’s.
- Orient has a better air throw and cools the room faster (5-10 min) than Havells.
- Orient Electric can cool a 250-330sqft room within 40min with proper ventilation.
- Orient air cooler is cheaper. It is slightly cooler than Havells. Otherwise, they both are good & cool the room fast.
- Its Mosquito Breeding prevention tech is just a gimmick. Avoid it.
2. Havells 65L Air Cooler – Best Desert Cooler Under 15000
Havells 65L air cooler with airflow of 3500m³/hr. It consumes max 220W power and comes with good plastic material and Honeycomb pads. It has 4-way air deflection i.e air is thrown in all 4 directions. It comes with an ice chamber and a water level indicator.
The best thing is its Dry Run Protected Submersible Pump which means the pump will not be damaged in case the cooler runs out of water. It has Rust & Shock Proof body along with Auto-Fill tech. In Autofill tech, a pipe is attached to the cooler and tap and as the water level reduces, the cooler fills itself automatically. It is useful only if the cooler is placed near the tap. Though, other methods can be used to fill water.
The best features are inverter compatibility and castor wheels with brakes. It weighs 16Kg. Air throw has not been declared but according to us, its air throw is amazing. Havells gives a 1-year comprehensive warranty. It costs Rs 11500.

Number 5- Best Air Cooler 2022
Bajaj DC55 – Best Desert Cooler Under 10000
Number 5 in our list of best air coolers in India 2022 is Bajaj DC55 with 54L water capacity. Its airflow is 5000m³/hr. It consumes a maximum of 200W power. This is an old model but we are suggesting the 2022 model made of thermoplastic material.
It comes with Honeycomb pads, Hexacool tech, and chill trap tech which is merely a fancy name. Hexacool means the water comes slowly in honeycomb pads and chill trap means the water will stay there for a while. But this is the basic work of honeycomb pads. It has 4-way air deflection.
The turbofan technology means that the fan works at the highest speed in a particular mode. It comes with an ice chamber, water level indicator, and castor wheels of enhanced quality. Its air throw is 70ft. It weighs 20Kg. Bajaj gives a 1-year comprehensive warranty. It costs Rs 9,000.
